Fourth wing by Rebecca Yarros

A friend of mine suggested this book way back in September but I just never got around to reading it until last week.

Briefly speaking, the story revolves around Violet Sorrengail, a young woman forced to choose a calling she never wanted and the trials, betrayals and choices she faces. It is a fantasy novel including magic, folklore coming to life and of course, dragons.

I have not read fantasy in a while because the ones that I read - Lord of the rings, Eragon, Game of thrones were good enough and to be honest, GOT tired me out. Nonetheless, this book holds its own.

The story moves at a fast pace mostly and the characters are very likeable. I felt like reaching out and slapping a few of them, hugging a few of them; so that tells you the author has done a good job with the characters in the book. Violet is a badass but her sister Mira is incredible to me. There is much violence in the book and the author has noted a trigger warning at the beginning for sensitive readers.

It's a good book. For some it will hook you in right from the beginning, for others it will start getting interesting only after reading a quarter of the book. I've been there, but I continued reading and it's very pleasantly surprising to reach the shocking cliffhanger.

The second book is already out and it's named Iron Flame, which is currently sitting on my shelf and I will get started on this weekend.

Give it a read, it has just the adequate amount of fantasy and modern politics to keep you engaged. I rate it 3.5/5
